Commentary:
Sin is a transgression of the revealed will of God. It is a breaking of any command or prohibition of Scripture in thought or deed, intentionally or unintentionally. The Bible teaches that we are each born in a sinful state that leads us each to sin against God.
All sin is an offense to God because it is His law that has been broken. God’s laws reflect the moral purity of His nature. When we fail to keep the law, we sin. This offense against God results in a judgment.
There is no law without a penalty. Therefore, breaking God's law brings judgment which is separation from God.
