Question 5 :: How and why did God create us?

Answer:

God created us male and female in his own image to know him, love him, live with him and glorify him.

Children:

God created us male and female in his own image to glorify him.

Genesis 1:27

So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

Commentary:

God created man in his own image; capable of sharing his knowledge, righteousness and holiness in a relationship of trust and love unlike any other creature.

God created men and women with equal value and dignity, yet with separate gender roles.  This is known as complementarianism.

The glory of God is the first thing that God's children should desire. It is the object of one of Jesus’ own prayers: "Father, glorify thy name." It is the purpose for which the world was created. It is the chief thing we should seek, that "God in all things may be glorified."

He alone deserves to receive all glory, honor and praise.  God must be king over our lives. His law, will, and precepts must receive our first attention.
