Evangelism is the act of taking the gospel of Jesus Christ to others by preaching, teaching and personal witness.

Acts 1:8

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes to you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

Commentary: Evangelism is a Christian’s glad response to the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is the act of preaching, teaching and personal witness by a Christian of this gospel message.  As Jesus instructed his own disciples in Matthew 28:18-19, each believer is to take the good news with us as we go.   Biblical evangelism begins with prayer for the guidance of the Holy Spirit in witnessing.  He opens doors of opportunity for a clear communication of the bad news of sin and wrath and the good news of love, grace, mercy and faith. Evangelism includes a warning, an explanation, and a call. It is the warning of the reality and consequences of sin. It is an explanation of God’s remedy for sin—the gospel. And it includes the clear call to repent and believe the gospel, by faith.
