Belief in Jesus as my Savior.
Romans 5:1-2
Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand.
Commentary:
The bible actually defines faith in Hebrews 11:1 as “the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.”
Faith is synonymous in the bible with trust and belief. Faith is confident trust or belief in God’s existence and Jesus’ death on the cross to reconcile you to him (Hebrews 11:6). In order for faith to be saving faith, it must contain both knowledge [ascentia: mental accent] and trusting in that information [fiducia: acceptance] (James 2:19).
