John  1:1-2,14

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  He was in the beginning with God... And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Commentary:

Jesus Christ is the central figure of Christianity.  As the Son of God, Jesus is a member of the Trinity.  He has been fully God from eternity to eternity.

Jesus was God in the flesh.  As God in human form, Jesus possessed two natures at the same time: human and divine (hypostatic union). Jesus became flesh to atone (supply payment) for sin.

Jesus died on the cross in our place, for our sin, and raised three days later for our justification.  Through faith in his atoning sacrifice and we are credited with his sinless, obedient life on our behalf and adopted into the family of God.

Jesus is the only way to salvation.
